Children and Teenagers
Highly effective: Hypnotherapy can be particularly effective for children and teenagers because of the way young minds naturally learn, adapt, and respond to the world. Young people tend to spend more time in imaginative, absorbed states-similar to hypnosis-making them highly receptive.
Relaxing Process: Unlike many traditional approaches, hypnotherapy is a passive and relaxing process. Children and teenagers don’t need to “try hard,” explain everything in detail, or actively engage in structured exercises for it to work. Simply being present is often enough. Sessions are designed to feel safe, calm, and natural, allowing change to happen without pressure.
Adapted for each individual: Importantly, they do not have to lie still or close their eyes unless they want to. Many young people relax more easily when they are drawing, playing, or using a small object to fiddle with, and this is fully supported. These activities can actually help them enter a focused, absorbed state – similar to daydreaming-where the mind becomes more open to helpful suggestions.
The neuroscience: From a neuroscience perspective, young brains are especially adaptable. Children and teenagers demonstrate high levels of neuroplasticity, meaning they can form new neural pathways quickly. Combined with their natural imagination and, in younger children especially, a reduced tendency to overanalyse, this allows hypnotherapy to work efficiently.
Hypnotherapy may support children and young people with a wide range of challenges, including:
  • Anxiety and worries
  • ADHD and concentration difficulties
  • Selective mutism
  • Tourette’s and tics
  • OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)
  • Phobias and fears
  • Exam anxiety and performance stress
  • Low mood and depression
  • Sleep difficulties and nightmares
  • Confidence and self-esteem issues
  • Emotional regulation
  • Eating-related difficulties, including restrictive patterns
  • And many more

Every session is tailored to the individual, working at their pace and in a way that feels comfortable and engaging. The aim is always to empower children and teenagers with a sense of calm, confidence, and greater control in their everyday lives.
